I've looked for a btu rating on it a can't find one anywhere. All the search results seem to say it's a little below sugar but a lot better than red..

Anyone know? I have a big Norway yard tree to pick up next Saturday. Scoped it out today and it's a lot of wood laying in a backyard..lol..

Pruned a bunch off of neighbor's tree in June 2011,not quite 2/3rds pickup load.Only Norway I ever burned.

Good stuff, density higher than Silver,a bit less than Sugar.

Yes, Norway is in the middle. It dries quick. And it is a nasty invasive tree that is best used as firewood so turn it to ashes please.

Any maple, even box elder or silver maple, is decent firewood. I have a couple cords of both for 2016-2017 already.

I guess that depends on what other woods are available to you, not a big fan of either Box Elder or Silver Maple.
Never burnt Norway Maple but it is right up there below Sugar on the charts that have it listed.

Norway is great firewood......I usually take several down every year and I save all of it. It's up there with hard maple but seasons fairly quick, in a year or so.

I thought it was very similar to ash in that it dries fairly quick and has about the same btu rating. They're in the same tree family.
