Yesterday I was helping a friend or he he was helping me. I was looking for some big stuff to run the 2100CD and he had lined up a tree service leftover score. As a thank you I got pick up truck load of the big stuff. I pulled out the 357XP in 359 clothing with a nearly new chain on an 18” bar. I love this saw. Can’t wait to see what it does with the muffler mod. I got a trailer load of noodles for the compost. Weather was perfect. I’m looking forward to a few more cooler days.
Great firestarter! I love my 357 too. If I was only able to keep 1 saw, it'd be that one. Mine's modified and is an angry bugger.
Backwoods Savage, we have a lot of corn like that here in North Western Indiana. Wet spring, delayed planting and now dry as a bone. Yet ironically, corn prices are not showing an upward trend. Think someone is going to be surprised at the amount of corn that isn't out there this year. Good for me at this time buying feed, but someone is sleeping at the markets.
You’re right We lease some property to the dairy farm up the road. Up until 6 weeks ago, this field had been haylage for the last 12 years. This year he asked if he put corn in but just a month or so ago. Field is now turned so it’ll be ready for earlier planting next year. Corn in the field to the south is 9 feet and was planted in in May.
It's not uncommon to see silage corn planted late around here, it really takes off in August and September. There's only one field left from a farm down the street (barn and silo collapsed unused ) and the guy leasing it has switched from silage corn to some weird mix of plants that he rolls up into 6 foot roll bales in plastic. Three cuttings a year. It's not hay or timothy grass. Most if not all the dairy farms are gone. You don't hear or smell cows any more like you used to.
Same thing here with the corn and also the beans. It is amazing just how many fields never got planted. My FIL's old farm had nothing planted and my BIL's is the same. But no matter what direction we go from home there are lots of empty fields. Some corn really looks terrible but surprising there are a few that look quite good. I expect prices will go up later.
