I thought this was important to post since our hobby is so dependent on the weather: This just in, the NOAA has formally announced the creation of new seasons that the US will follow. These seasons are to bring us more in line with the new, climate changed reality of what our country will be dealing with. These seasons are High Summer, which is marked by extreme heat, high humidity and frequent rain, Late Summer, which is marked by slightly more mild temperatures, almost constant rain and high humidity and Early Spring, which will be marked by cool, but not freezing, temperatures, constant rain and high humidity. These new seasons will not correspond to any of the old equinoxes or solstices as they are completely fricking meaningless except for those few "nature weirdos" who still keep track of the shortest and longest days of the year. Everyone else is staring at a screen so it doesn't matter anyway.
Just proves furthermore that there are idiots running these types of things. But I suspect this is all BS anyway.
Yup. I suspected that. However, it would not surprise me... What the H? They aren't satisfied to just report the temperature; we have to have "feels like," "wind chill," etc, etc. Whatever did we do before they came out with that crap? Well, actually, we were smart enough to know that the wind did tend to cool things a bit. Like in the summer, the wind sometimes can be your friend. And in spring, the wind can also be your friend even when it blows hard as it will dry the ground so farmers can plant the crops. If in the winter, windy days, if not too bad were a good time to work in the woods cutting firewood because believe it or not, the trees and brush blocked the wind. We also knew before we left the house to dress a bit warmer. Okay, rant over.
I rely on my own keen sense of observation. I look outside at my rock, if it is wet, it is raining if it is white it is/has snowed if I touch it and it is warm it is warm out if I touch it and it is cold it is cold out if it is in the ground instead of the handrail it is very windy If you would like to purchase a weather rock, PM me and we can discuss price and shipping options If you buy one in the next 30 days I will include a second weather rock for free.
Or for us Geniuses that live near the 45th parallel. If it's a Southwind it'll be warmer... if it's a North Wind it will be colder.. That's amazing
I got a "weather stick" for Christmas, or my birthday or something a couple years ago that tells me the same thing. Looks like this..........It has the added benefit of knowing that it's nice out (or not) by merely glancing at it. I suppose I could do the same just looking out the window, but this thing's cooler.
