Found a good sized scarlet oak that fell sometime in the last year yesterday.

Bucked and rough split up to the rotten tree under the scarle, which filled the the truck. then it started to rain. So I got it stacked on pallets back at the barn and called it a day.

The next customer is right by the scarlet. Another red oak maybe a black oak. The tree in the center of the photo is standing dead.

Nice haul, I've cut a bunch of those oaks that have been down a while, don't look too good, bark off and punky look'n but once you crack em open:axe: some really nice wood.

The springs on the Yota got a workout for sure.

Always worth taking a look at the tops while you are in a spot. Nice to see another prime straight tree for the stacks. Even though I hate to see such a good looking specimen die.

And when they do die you are right there to use the wood before it rots and is wasted, It's part of the cycle. Another tree will take that vacant spot shortly and provide for another time.

Nice looking oak for sure. Not punky at all yet, as far as I can see. Looks like two full truck loads from the Scarlet?
