All, I am brand new to this club. I have looked through some threads over the last day. What a wonderful group of people! I feel like I will fit right in here. Very supportive, knowledgeable group! I will be posting in the near future of things that I have done in the past such as making a homemade dump trailer. This post will be about the find that I found at a local consignment auction. I found this Stihl 021 for $17.50. I thought it was worth a try for that cost. I took it home and put new gas in it and it started right up. It was very dirty (see attached photo). After a thorough cleaning, it wouldn't run worth a darn. It would bog. I took it back apart and discovered that I had put a hole in the fuel line in the process. I replaced the fuel line and the problem was better but not how it should be. I tried to get a carb rebuild kit and learned that for an additional $2 or so I could get a new carb. I replaced the carb and it now runs like new. Thanks
Welcome!!!! Mechanical ability, an affinity for chainsaws, and pictures to prove it. Yup. You'll fit right in!!!
Welcome SM Pedro - You're gonna like it here, I guarantee it! We also like dogs, beer and spending your money for you on toys...Nice find on the saw and tune-up/clean-up-seems like you been here all along Again-Nice to meet ya
Welcome to the family, SM Pedro! You're gonna fit in like a duck in water! Great deal on that chainsaw!
A fine entrance, and welcome SM Pedro to the best group of hoarders you'll ever meet Waiting to see what else you bring to the table!
Welcome to the club! I too have found that a new carb is only a couple of bucks more than a kit. Certainly not worth doing the kit at that price!
Welcome Pedro. Nice deal on the saws. After running it for awhile keep an eye on it sometimes the seals do not act up right away and show up later after the saw has been run a bit. Sounds like you will fit right in. We like pics.
Thanks for the kind words. I have a. new group of friends! BTW, SM Pedro is the name my Boy Scouts gave me. SM stands for Scout Master. I recently stepped down after 7 wonderful years of being their mentor. I had 11 young men become Eagle Scouts in a that time, one of which was my son. We camped out every month of the year. Winter was my favorite, including a week in January north of Ely Minnesota. I will be providing more pics in the near future. Bye for now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
