I picked up a model RM1415A saw at a garage sale for $15. It had no chain but I was able to source one at Lowes for about $18. Next up was a damaged chain adjuster that cost me under $10 to replace. I tried it out on a 6 inch diameter apple tree branch and found out the manual chain oiler bulb was shot due to age cracks. It cut great but the new oiler is in the mail to me for under $5. My impression is simple. For under $50 total cost I will have a nice electric chain saw for use around my home. It is not battery powered nor engine powered but for yard maintenance it will be great.
Great to see you’re still in the saw game Oldman47! Doesn’t matter how it’s powered as long as you’re making chips Quite the hiatus from posting on FHC - glad to see you pop back in
It has been a long time. Last time I was here I was working on building a 372 replica from FarmerTech. I never did finish it due to family issues. I'm not even sure where all the parts are now but I know I was getting close to finishing.
And here I was thinking I was the only one that had one that was still working. It doesn't get used much. But it still works.
I used the saw twice today to cut up some apple branches about 6" diameter each into stove sized lengths. My only trouble was judging whether I was using the manual oiler often enough.
