Well, one thing led to an other and I picked up a new stove today. It shipped on time from Woodstock Stoves and it is sitting in the trailer. My T6 is going to the basement for part time duty and the PH is going in my living room as the main burner. The T6 is too square for my basement hearth but I will make it work. I have a line on a used Fireview, it's my old stove that I sold my co worker. It would work out in the basement but I will burn what I have first. The PH and T6 should keep me warm. Saturday install, I have 4-5 guys coming over to help. I will post pics and add to the thread when they are moved. I am thinking of selling the T6 but am focused on getting the PH situated first and seeing how it does. FYI: I did get the ash pan.
Congratulations on the new stove OhioStihl. Good luck moving it. Those beasts are heavy, heavy, heavy. But they are also a super stove!
Busy weekend with moving the wood stoves and also everything else that I needed to get done around the house. Several friends came over and we moved out the T6 and placed the PH in its place. From the stairs looking down From the spectators seat. I still have to get the pipe hooked up in the back. Also, my stove to mantle clearance is less than 30 inches. I will check if I need to rework the mantle or simply put a heat shield order the mantle. It is warm out so I am not going crazy wanting to start the fire. I will post more updates as the pipe and mantle issue is resolved.
quick question Ohiosteel: What kind of pipe do you have going up the fireplace. I have the flex liner for my insert. If one were to pick up a new hybrid stove and ran the same set up as yours, up an existing chimney, would the chimney need to be re-fitted with the rigid pipe instead of the flex liner or is there some kind of adapter?
The chimney was lined last year. 6 inch liner. Flexible but smooth interior. Block off plate above lintle and new cap. It will be fairly strait forward to connect the stove. Once I get the heat shield / deflector for the mantle I will be burning off the new stove stench.
