Yup going green Over the past year I've run across a couple of DeWalts and a Milwaukee battery saws, they have their place and I got interested. I'm on the Makita platform and some of my other batteries after 5 years are getting a little tired. This saw, through an email offer from "Tooltopia" was $379 free shipping with 4 batteries (it takes 2) and a dual charger and the batteries are the 5A version. Kinda worked out that I bought the batteries on sale and they threw in the saw and charger. I have found it surprisingly powerful and it has it's place in the overall scheme of sawing. I understand that there is no porting or carb adjustments available.
I’m on the makita platform too. Have been seriously thinking about the same thing. Thought it may be good for liming.
I haven't quite figured out if it's just new and shiny and light and quiet and very different, or if it's just a great little saw. But I grab it anytime there's an appropriate job for it. And for most of the limbing that I'm doing, it's perfect.
I run the Milwaukee platform, so I bought one. I was expecting to be disappointed, but quite the opposite. I limbed a 2' dbh Oak we dropped & found the saw very suitable for that purpose. Battery held up fine & I cut some smaller limbs to length as well. I'm impressed so far. Very handy marking saw as well.
This last weekend I decided to dust off my old Remington electric and give her a shot at staying in the fleet. After cleaning it up and sharpening the chain, I was pleasantly pleased with the performance of cutting up limbs and odd ball pieces that I drug over to the barn. I was so happy about it that I bought a new chain. Anyway, this got me turned on to the idea of having a cordless around for times when I just want to go out to the grove and trim a few branches or free a snag. How have you guys used your saws and what do you think they excel in?
