In an effort to keep my web surfing wear and tear off my phone, I just ordered my first tablet. Besides web surfing, I got it in hopes I can dl some movies to it for offline viewing via Netflix or amazon prime. Does anyone here do this? Any advice or tips? What else are these things good for? I've watched shows and vids on mine. I put a Mahjong game on it, but played all the levels. Uninstalled it this morning. You can do e-mail, e-books, weather, take pics and vids, maps..... I forgot I installed a slow-cooker (crockpot) recipe app on it a while ago....I should check that out. There's a Direct TV app that I installed (we have DTV), but haven't used. Battery life is pretty good, but turn off the screen before you put it down, or it won't be. I keep wifi off most of the time too. If you like a clean screen, good luck. I didn't put a screen protector on mine, and it's been fine since before last Christmas, but I never lay it down on the screen. My wife uses hers for e-books.
