I have ran about 5 tanks through my new 562xp. I was getting my saws ready to go cut tomorrow and noticed how much dust is getting past the filter. Anyone else notice this.

I had the same problem with my 562xpg. Been using some grease around the horn of the carb before seating the air filter.

I use the bar tip grease that comes with a saw.

I read somewhere that teflon tape wrapped around the horn worked good too!

I like the Teflon tape. Shame that this saw doesn't have the filtration my 394xp has the dirt and dust never even gets to the filter.

Somebody had some success stretching an o-ring around the horn IIRC.

Sounds like a poor design if it doesn't seal properly.

How long has this saw design been around?

562 would be the newest family of huskies. The 5 is the newest line. That saw i am not sure? A few years at least.

Sounds like a crappy design to me as well.

Any air filter that is 2 pieces and snaps together can let fine dust get though,so try greasing that seam also.

I have always kept my air filters clean on all my saws. I pulled the filters off all my saws the 394xp and ms 461 are spotless past the filter. The 562xp and 261c-m have dust behind the filter.

I can't imagine the saw lasting a long time if the filter doesn't catch the dust very well. A lot of loggers around my area say they use husqvarna because they last longer because of the filtration system. But I also here that more of them are using the 562 and liking it. I really like the saw minus the air filter.

Something is wrong on the 261 then as that is an excellent seal.

Prior to the current generation of saws, Husky really was king of filtration with their air injection systems and "High-top" filters on the pro saws. Air injection made a dramatic difference between a 372XP and an MS440/460 as far as run time between filter cleanings.

Now that most pro saws have the same centrifugal pre-cleaning system, it comes down to the filter element itself. One-piece, rubber sealed units keep just about everything out while a two piece plastic housing with no real seal will pass the fines through the leaks, especially as it becomes partially clogged and the pressure drop across the filter becomes greater.

I've not had that problem with the 562.

Did have some fine dust getting in the old 346, but 15 years of hard use and no issues.

OP, heck that's not bad. Both my 550 and 562's have had the same issue. Tried grease and o ring and that didn't help either.
