Put my new saw to work the other day, before winter came back. Needed to clean up the 48" downed elm, left by the tree service. The saw chewed through it all w/o effort. It was more work moving the cuts to the pile. Happy 455 owner here.
My first saw was a 455. Liked the saw and it got a lot of use until I found my used 365 special. After that I would use it once in a while but ended up selling it. No complaints and never had an issue with it. Enjoy the fine saw.
Congrats, the ol' 455 has been my best experience owning a chainsaw. Other than needing to replace fuel lines that were rotted by ethanol in the gas, it's been 100% reliable for over 15 years and dozens of cords of wood cut. Acquired it using Marriot points accumulated during work travel. My complaints are that it's very heavy, and that it leaks bar oil when in storage. To have a saw that's been so reliable, totally satisfied with it. One improvement I made a few years ago was to add a 16" bar (came stock with a 20"). I use the 16" bar almost exclusively, unless I get into really big wood. The saw really likes not having to pull all the unnecessary chain, and it seems considerably more powerful. It's owner really likes having fewer teeth to sharpen each time!
Great to hear you're pleased. I briefly had a 450 Runcher and was dissatisfied so I think ya picked the right one. I have a friend that has a 455 and it was the better saw no doubt.
