Our 2nd little big dog. (Jack Russell) So far so good, day 3 for a night at the camp, no leash & no collar. Didn't think it could be done, but I think he'll "fill the shoes" just fine of our last JRT friend (Zip) of 14 years. We used to have big dogs, lab's, sheppard's, and even a big Mastiff, but for us, once you go "Jack", you'll never go back!
My daughter has one. Full of pee and vinegar. Fast as a rabbit. Goes after any dog bigger than he is. Loveable but more energy than I can deal with.
So far (knock on wood) both of our Jack's would mellow right down, but also have never known a collar or leash. I think that makes a big difference, if you have the place/space to allow it. Like any dog, you get out of it what you put in. We have forgotten how much work a puppy really is.
Cute guy there. The only JR I've know ran around at the stables I was working at. He made the horses nervous with all his running around. He was still a pup and hopefully he (and his owner) got a bit of sense. Only worked at the stables for a while (actually dog grooming), so don't know if he ever settled down or not.
Nice looking little butt sniffer. How do you like those 0 gravity chairs ? We have two of them and love them.
Nice looking fella. I'm sure he'll fit right into camp life like it's second nature. and with some training and plenty of repetition he'll get to know the ins and outs of life with his new family. We have 2 boxers and we definitely notice a difference in their demeanor when they are off leash. They respond well and enjoy their time more this way. I'm sure your Jack will too
I love boxers. My current one is my second one and although they both share some of the same traits what a difference in personality. This one is way more high strung. She also has a big prey drive while my previous one didn't care. This one chases everything and is a bit of a barker. Current one is ridiculously intelligent which I think is half the problem. She's like a raptor from jurassic park. I don't think I'll ever have a different type of dog. The first 2 years are rough. But after that great dogs.
Just like kids. some are easy, other will make you feel like you want to be somewhere else. My daughter has two dogs, both mix breed, that have eaten several couches. They are about 4 yrs old. My two dogs and 6 cats don't do anything to my furniture except for leaving some hair behind. The dogs used to tear up their toys until I learned to silence the squeakers first. I give them lots of things to chew on that are much more desirable than a couch. The cats have scratch poles sitting about. They will always go to that rope on a pole and leave the furniture just to sit on.
Well boxers mature slowly. After I got one 13 years ago my sister got 2. Then I got my second about 3 years ago and my friend got one. Compared to other breeds they stay in puppy hood longer and are a challenging breed. Talk about headstrong. But very rewarding. Hard to explain unless you have had them. We had many different breeds growing up but the boxer breed definitely is a good fit for me.
I may consider another rescue down the road but thinking a 3-4 year old not a puppy next time. Boxer puppies are a lot of work, they have a ton of energy and they ask for your time or they do whatever they can to get it (like eat a couch or pull down the curtains)
Those chairs? easy to get in to and hard to get out of! You just don't want to. We got our first pair as a gift from a friend that spent some time here on the property camping, then we just got a padded set. Comfy but a little warmer than the mesh for this time of the year.
We had two boxers when I was a kid. What I remember is they being very possessive of our property. One wouldn't let a stranger between my mother and him. I saw more one sales man run out of our driveway.
