Probably don't really need an outside spike on a 50 cc saw but..... :) Sure dresses up the 261. About $12 from my Stihl shop.

Actually, I like dual spikes on any saw I buck with. I can lean into it a bit without pulling the bar off center of the cut. I've got an XS 026 that runs like a screaming demon & I buck with it pretty regularly. Light & fast makes for easy working. The outside dawg is nice.

I like the double dawgs for the Honey Locust cuz the bark is irregular and breaks away sometimes and the doubles just make life easier for a lot of reasons. Look good too. I even put a big aftermarket felling spike on my 250 cuz the tiny stock thing couldn't get a bite when felling trees with knarly bark. Even with just one on the 250, the bigger dawg makes felling with it much more secure and controllable.

Stihl shop called yesterday and let me know the outside spike for the 362 got here, it had been on back order since I got the saw. I'm hoping to slip out of work today and run over there to pick it up. But now that I see Jakes Big Dogs, I'm just not sure if the stock set will do!:hair::picard:

I went to pick up my outer spike from the my last post on May 21 and they had ordered the wrong one, I was bummed. They got the correct one ordered and I picked it up today and put it on. By chance my new moisture meter came in the mail today too.

I picked up square ground skip tooth chain for the 25" bar as well, so I'll be trying my hand at filing that soon too. The grind on it didn't look nearly as aggressive as most of the pix I've seen of square ground chain on here... This picture is with the 18" bar full chisel chain that came with the saw. I have four tanks of gas through it now and babied it for the first 3 so now I can let it rip. I've been busy with other stuff like gardens and spraying multi-floral rose back in the woods so I'm getting antsy to get some more WOT time on this thing. I'm probably gonna wait till fall before doing a muffler mod on it but it will happen at some point.

I don’t drink it a lot, but there is an outdoor burger place near here where you get a draft PBR for $1.00.

Nice looking saw MAF143  Ive been curious about square grind myself, but just normal sharpening seems to be a chore for me, let alone square filing. I free hand file either on the bar or off while in the vise. A 361 is in my near future.
