Man have I came into the red maple. After that windstorm a few weeks back I've been finding them snapped and uprooted all over. Got two medium ones done today. 2 more tommorow. Then a big SOB to work next week. I know there's better wood but it's free and right behind the house. I just keep walking a little deeper when I get done with what I'm currently working on and boom!, up pops another and another.
Red maple is a staple around here, along with its hotter cousin the sugar maple. Red dries faster, but burns a bit faster too. Love it for daytime fires or shorter cycles where we will be reloading in six or eight hours instead of eight or ten hours. Throws plenty of heat, just for a shorter time than the heavy hitters in our experience. ...hate to be that guy, but.. Pics?
Love me some Red Maple. One of my favorites actually. It'll hold an overnight for me, no problem, with coals to relight. Dries fairly quick.
close, convenient and free, cant beat that.!!! Lots of it around here as well. Not one of my favorites, but it has grown on me in the last few years!
If i didnt know better, I'd think that accent might have a little Yooper or Sconnie thrown in for good measure. Sounds normal to me lol
18-20 million BTU per cord - range dependent on whose metric one uses (and/or maybe where it grows) will season in a year here if you get it CS&S pronto and some cooperation from the weather gods pertty easy on chains too generally
