    I picked up some craigslist wood yesterday and I'm unsure on a couple of them.

    Thinking sassafras on this one. Close growth rings but not very heavy, dark wood.

    This one is also pretty light, thinking basswood.

    I've got three piles of basswood logs in my log yard. I can show you at least 4 different bark patterns in those logs, all cut on the same hillside. I would say yes, second one is basswood.

    Me too. The best way to ID bass is to look at the leaf in the summertime.

    The second one sure looks like basswood to me. I've never burned sasquatchfrass.
