well I am working on a renovation and it has arch top doors, the bedroom closet doors which were bi-folds, are floor to ceiling 8 ft. I do not like bifolds they cover half the opening when open and I want the doors to all match.
It is actually a good idea, easy access to things on the closet shelf, open the door and everything is accessible.
well can I get a 8"0 door nope but I can get normal doors.
So I buy 2 of them, pick a spot on the first one and cut it. Then using math I figured how much I needed to cut off the second door to make the height I need.
I then cut a filler strip to glue the 2 doors together. Of course the panels are slightly different, one side I can line up the other is way off, even worse when I reverse it. So I lined up the better side and glued it, after drying I sanded it and it looks pretty good. I added some auto body glazing filler, waiting to final sand in the morning. A couple coats of paint and it should look good. The inside will have a miss match but it will be inside the closet, I can live with that.
Then to build a frame, mortise hinges and install lockset, another day in my world.

Yes I love doing this stuff, luckily I make my living at it. I can honestly say I haven't worked a day in my life, pure enjoyment. People can not understand how I love what I do as most are unhappy with their lives.
Tried to retire but I missed it to much so I continue to restore houses.

Looks good to me. I've hung lots of doors but have never built one. That will probably work just fine for a closet door.

So for these windows I used the same technique I usually do but I tried a different product. The replacement windows in this house are Pella vinyl replacement windows so they are not full depth. I do not like drywall wrap, I like the look and feel of wood trim. All my trim has been painted before install, with these windows I need jamb extension and I did not want to have to paint them all so, I bought PVC trim board, smooth one side. I cut all my jamb extensions and sills out of that. I then screwed all the jambs together, nice tight joints, cut all the trim to fit then assembled.
Worked out very well, I had my doubts about the PVC but it matches up to the vinyl window very well. By doing it all in the shop I probably saved 1/2 a day. Now I bring them over slide them in and attach. When I shim the windows I leave the shims long inside so the frame slides in centered to the windows.

    Those look great! Very clever.

Regarding the door - how did you get the two pieces together to make a strong joint?

I wonder if in trying to get the cuts to match you could have stacked the doors in a staggered fashion so as to measure 8’ plus the kerf of the saw from top to bottom. Then in making one cut, the left and right side of the cuts are parallel and should match up nearly perfectly.

it was the pressed panel that did not line up, there must be several molds in the factory with slight variance in each one. the door cut nice and square and it glued up very straight.

it is a hollow core door so I cut a splice plate to slide into the door and glued to that. I forgot to take pics but I will with the scrap so you can see it

transferring the hinge location to jamb, less likely to make an error in measuring

    That door came out nice.

You’re pretty confident those window jambs are going to fit up nice?
I did pella vinyl replacements in my house during the residing project but firred out the jambs with 1x pine and added mitered 1/4 round to finish the holidays caused by the poor Sheetrock job done originally.

I will post up pics tomorrow, I ran them over this evening and held a couple up, fit like a glove. To be fair I have been trimming/building/rehabbing houses for the last 30 years.

That is amazing work ironpony I have a few windows ( 2 bedroom 1 kitchen) that look like your unfinished picture. I may just take a shot at it, thanks. Did you glue them in or nail?
