nasty grid announced spring rate down but up over 2014? new rates about 10-12% up over 2014 . really hard to justify with price of Nat gas and what little oil electricity is generated. just something we have to live with in this state. wonder if the cape wind surcharge is still on the bill? not much if it is but shouldn't be when the broke the contract. new rate just over $.09/kh plus delivery charges.
like I said" some thing we live with in this state". Trade you a pick ups load of uglies for that rate? we just are finishing .1625/kwh this winter, aarrgghh, before delivery charge!
Yeouch. .0859 here. I got rid of oil altogether, and put in a heat pump when electricity became cheaper than oil to heat with. 'Course, I use wood most of the time...
I still kick myself for not locking in at .043, though I am sure the year is up and most are up around 7-9. It amazes me how many people don't watch that rate. I also watch kWh, this year we did not surpass 1,000 kWh /month. Last year we had a few up over 1,400 kWh. Our lowest has been 533 kWh, I have a feeling with the baby I will see the average increase.
we turned off the electric space heaters and set the oil thermostat. used about 30% less electricity. surprisingly also used 3% less oil during what is a colder winter. overall less energy used both ways. sure wish that electric rate was in my pocket not Nasty Grid's. thank the good God oil crashed!
I live in MA also and my electric bill is about 40% higher since Jan. I used to use electric space heaters to supplement. Not any more. Without a single space heater and propane for hot water my bill is still $225 last month. Thieves!
Oh, I despise heating oil. The numerous heating companies here were bought out about two years ago and now there is a monopoly under one roof. High prices and crap service.
sounds like nstar , I'm sure their rates will drop similarly. doesn't help with rates that high during heating season. something about the generating cos. have to pay spot rates on natgas due to lack of direct pipelines to Mass.
