    Looks like Persimion to me... Might be black Tupelo though...

    No clue, but it's a really interesting bark. Don't think I've ever seen that before.

    After researching I think Fanatical1 may be correct on black Tupelo aka black gum.

    From bark alone, I would say persimmon. Can we get a look at some end grains? Better hope it's not tupelo...although I think it's too deeply furrowed for that.
