Scored this birch yesterday. I thought yellow birch but not 100% sure. Three clumps of landscape trees. Bark resembles cherry.
I’ll go with River birch too. I’ve never seen one grow that large as a yard tree, and the bark definitely is deceiving. The smaller wood gives it away though. Like other birches, as they age the bark changes drastically.
I’m 99.9% on river birch. Dummies planted them next to house’s and buildings all over down here. They can get huge. Trashy aphid infested garbage tree that belongs next to rivers and creeks.
Are they that bad? I’ve been thinking about planting a couple of them, maybe next year before I’m ready. I want a couple trees that look cool and grow pretty fast for some shade. Been thinking river birch or aspen or combination of both
These were nice, healthy and shaded the front of the house nicely but were getting too close and mustve made a mess with the rain gutters. Plant them far enough away if you do
I don’t like them because they get planted next to houses. They are fine in a location where you don’t mind a limb mess, or honeydew and sooty mold.
