    Hello

There was 4 of these little hills in the grass next to the driveway so I cleaned up the dirt and another appeared this morning!
It rained last night and then there it is next to driveway!

What is it? How do you stop them from appearing?

What part of the world do you live in? Could be moles or gophers.

Gotta be a witch then. :D Sorry, I had to say it.

Maybe a spring is popping up in a new place. Does it smell bad? Septic or sewer pipe leak maybe?

Maybe the rain and the frost in the ground is doing some strange things this year. Been very warm and wet here this winter. I imagine it's been the same there.

Is it frozen? Sometimes the groundwater pushes up into freezing air which causes that kind of formation.

Did you have snowstakes marking your driveway in these locations at some point? I second water rising to the surface taking silt with it.

Screenshot_2016-03-02-21-11-06.png I agree with the others. Water freezing under ground, breaking through with pressure, filling with rainwater, freezing and expanding overnight..........

Edit- After reviewing the pics again, is there any pipes under there or near there? The way the dirt flowered out, looks like maybe some pressure from underneath, no?

It's definitely some type of hydro pumping from under the asphalt.
Could be natural water being squeezed from vehicle traffic following a natural path during the freeze/thaw cycles.
Unless you have fire ants up that way, but those piles don't look like ant hiils

Is this any where near your city water line?
    Sewer line?
    Gas line?
    underground electric?

If not, it could be the start of a sinkhole of sorts. Don't worry though, it could take up to 10,000 years before your house collapses into it! ;)

    Thanks for your comments.
There was a lot of snow from the driveway piled there and the car wheel ran back there a while ago.
We also had a lot of freezing and thawing lately too!

Looks like pretty sandy soil. Wouldn't take much water to bring the sand to the top

I saw something very similar to that in the toilet this morning.

Doesn't have to be the entrance to a mole tunnel, just a weak spot in the tunnel ceiling. You can't stop them from appearing at this point in time. Welcome to the wild, wild, world of nature.
