I've been burning shoulder wood, uglies, and assorted other secondary wood since mid-October. One or two small fires a day. Today started the real season, temps in the teens, high around 20, and constant NW 30 knot winds with gusts up to 55 knots. Same for tomorrow. Put some oak in the upstairs stove and lit the downstairs stove. The house is staying in the low 70s and is comfortable. Right now I'm sitting in front of the stove listening to the wind howling outside. I'm guessing this is a test run since they are predicting 60 degrees for Sunday afternoon... KaptJaq
Welcome to winter Kapt! Please keep that wind out there. But that 60 degrees surely sounds like it would be welcome. We might get to 30 Saturday but only for a very short time. Snowing here but not hard yet. They say tonight we'll get more; 5-7" and we're almost to the total amount of snow we got last winter...and winter had not even started yet! That is a waker-uper.

They thought we might get some ice with the snow but it has only got to 25 so far and the snow was done before daylight this morning. We didn't get as much as predicted but I had enough it had to be shoved around.
