I will start by saying that I have been lurking on this site for a little while now. This is a great site!

I bought a new WoodPro 2.0 last week. I bought it on sale at Menards.
We moved into this house two years ago. It is 1200 sq.ft., built in 1964. It has an old fireplace in it, with heat tubes and two blowers. It heated the house very well, but went through the wood like I have never seen! I was going through a full cord every 2-3 weeks!
Enough was enough! We bought the new stove, and although there is a learning curve and is much different from the old fireplace as far as lighting, setting the air flow, etc. , I now have the hang of it.
It heats the house every bit as good as the fireplace or better, but uses a minute fraction of the amount of wood.
With the old fireplace, I was filling it up before bed, again around 2:00 am, and again around 5:00 am. It took about 8-10 pieces EACH filling for a total of almost 30 pieces every night.
With the new stove, I fill it up before bed and it goes all night. It takes 2-3 pieces to fill it.
I am so happy with this stove (not just for the smaller amount of wood, but a good nights sleep as well), I just had to share.
    Thanks for reading.

Welcome aboard Dan, even though you've been here for a month or so.
Is this an EPA stove with burn tubes? I guess I'll make a virtual run over to Menards. BRB

Looks like a nice stove. Those must be pretty large splits.

Yes, it is an EPA stove with burn tubes. It takes 21" wood.

Welcome Dan. Good move on getting a stove put in. You should be able to build up some wood stacks if you are burning a fraction of what you were feeding the fireplace.

    Thanks for the welcome!
I have a firewood business. We cut about 150 cords per year, so it's just a matter of diverting a few of those cords to my house.

How many cords do you have "diverted" for the next couple years?

As of right now, 3 cords of 4 yr. old oak and 6 cords of 3 yr. old oak. (My personal stash)
I have no idea of how many cords of 2 and 1 year old oak we have.

    Welcome to the club.
Even though you have plenty of wood, burning less wood and tending the fire less is always a good thing.
I have seen those stoves at Menards and wondered about them but I hadn't seen anyone that had one, who is the manufacturer?

    Welcome to the forum Dan.

Wow! Although you are in a much warmer area than most of us, it is amazing when I think of how much wood you had to handle over the winter. At least you sell wood so you no doubt have some sort of a processor which can help a lot. In addition, now you can get a good night's sleep.

I thought we had an amazing decrease in out wood usage when we bought the Fireview (50%) but you put those numbers to shame! Good luck with the new stove.

Welcome to FHC Dan . As most have said, looks like you have a decent supply, and personal stash, of wood to handle your heating needs. Great pick up on the woodpro stove, big time wood saver and it's a great heater.
