My New Knife

Dad has been making knives lately, he made one from a saws all blade with the saw on one side, blade on the other. Here is one he made for me from an old circular saw blade.

 

Here's my filet knife.

Cool Griz. How long did it take him to make that?

 

He said about 4 hours.

 

That will be something you will treasure for the rest of your life. It's really awesome when a dad makes his son something like that.

 

One of the best parts-- the hilt is made from my great grandma's walnut tree.

 

That is a good looking knife! I like it better knowing who made it and where the parts of it came from.

 

nice knife reminds me of a dexter boning knife. probably a little thicker and shorter? should be a workhorse.

 

Yeah, he said he just drew a line he though would be usuable. Looks shorter and thicker, dead on.

 

Must have huge fish in Wisconsin...But the hockey players are apparently tiny!!

 

He's working on a santoku for me now. That one should be BA!

 

So, not quite a santoku, but a nice knife. Sharpened the wrong side of the blade. Just used it to cleave some ribs, worked well.
