image.jpg I retired my Poulan 18 in saw this month. I had it for years and had to basically rebuild it this year. Just doesn't have the power it used to.

So I purchased this Homelite 18 in. At Home Depot for $99.00. Came with a bottle of chain oil, case, and an extra chain. Couldn't pass it up. image.jpg

You been in on any of the gas/oil mix discussions?
Use fuel stabilizers if using ethanol gasoline. (Stabil is a good one)
40:1 mix is a better mix , even though most new saws recommend 50:1 (per the epa)

I've seen that one their. What's the low down on it? Engine size and weight. Ease of use and all that good junk.

There are lots of deals to be had on cheap saws, even in the box stores. And often from some unlikely names. Poulan Pro 5020 comes to mind at <$200, as does the Ryobi saws that were a RedMax in disguise. Even the dreaded Wild Thing was actually a pretty good running saw once tuned properly.

Let us know what you think of that 42cc Homelite! For better or worse. :saw:

I had one of those 5020s and it was actually a decent saw for the price point. Got mine for around 180 bucks with coupon at northern tool, and it handled some big wood for a while without giving me any trouble. Had to send her down the road when the stihl bug bit though :D

X2 ! I have brought a great deal of Wild Things back to life. Opened up the mufflers... Tuned the carbs.... and they turn into a nasty little firewood saw !
Congrats on the new saw... And cant wait to see action shots !
