I think I'd want a cross brace in the middle to make sure nothing tears out, otherwise it looks great. I might have to make one of those myself someday.

Not trying to be nitpicking but shouldn't the decal say "ski horse" ?
Either way that is a awesome idea !

    That right there is: IAOFHCMFOYTLMKAIWFOTWTLAST.

(If Anyone On Firewood Hoarders Club Makes Fun Of You, Then Let Me Know And I Will Fly Out To Where They Live And Slap Them.)

Nice job. Nothing slides over snow like high density plastic!!

(By the way, there is a guy in Maine who is hauling out wood by hand on a sled from a swamp with a $10 sled, and the loggers on my place with 2 MILLION dollars worth of equipment cannot wade into the swamp to get out the wood despite their massive equipment. Now that is ironic!)

Good for you! Hoarding Firewood is Hoarding Firewood no matter how you do it.

I bet that was fun trying to unroll it and get it put in place on the wood frame. Looks good.

Just came in from looking at some barrels I have. Got me wondering if anyone has made skidding cones from one ?

I have seen skidding cones made from a forked tree maybe 4 feet long. You cradle the log you want to pull on the forked part of the tree, then cut the single part at a 45 degree so it does not jamb into the ground, and pull the log by the angled part. Kind of hard to describe, but in the old days it worked well I guess, especially over frozen ground.

I read a book from 1947 logging and saw that. Those old duffers were pretty ingenious.

I snagged 4 front skis from snow machines this past summer. My plan is to build a wood sleigh with swivel bunks. 012200_144301.jpg
This sled I used a steel 55 gal drum for its belly and 2x4s and 2x6 for the framing. I've brought out over 140 cord of wood on it . I used P Tex for runner skins and an extendable rope bridal for when I spin out with the snogo( Alaskan Native word for snowmobile)

I wish I cut the barrel this summer and laid a log on it to flatten it. Well I know what I’m doing this summer
