I hope you have an awesome Christmas at your parents’ house! Did you actually drive 1000 miles in a day? Holy cow!

Yep, in one day. From Hecla SD to Weatherford TX is just over 1000 miles. My sons and I woke up at 3:30am, said a quick prayer before pulling out of the driveway at 4am, and drove all day. We arrived last night at almost exactly 7:00pm, 15 hours later. Ha ha do the math on that for average speed.

Just a side note...... From Oklahoma city south everybody loses their mind and drives at least 80mph. If you're doing 75, you are going to get passed like you're standing still.

Now thats how to drive! My longest solo drive was over 1200 miles straight through. That was in the 70's when the speed limits were 55 nations wide....even on the interstates! (damm politicians!)

Quite a few years ago, I worked all day, then packed up and drove straight through from NE Ohio, to Sarasota Florida...1110 miles...about 18 hours...o_O have no doubt that I could never do that now! :faint:
Merry Christmas SD Steve ! :handshake: :santa:

Well, you're visiting during the best season, Hunting Season. The others are Almost Summer, Summer, and Still Summer.
I've never been hotter or colder than I've been in my 20 years in Texas despite living all around the country.
    Enjoy!

Long trip indeed! Safe trip back.

You're right about the traffic! I drive from NW Iowa to Austin once a year.

I time my trip to make sure I don't end up driving back from DFW to Okie City on a work day morning.

SD Steve you’re missing the blizzard in SD. It’s not to bad except for the crazy wind!
