Hi all horders. This summer I had collected all the oak I needed when a neighbors massive oak tree was dropped & sawn up. I got permission to take as much as I wanted this was a 1/4 mile or less from our home in the Oakland hills. It was beautiful red oak cut in many cases to the size to fit in my Lupi fireplace insert. I went to town hauling the rounds in my front yard so I could split them up. Then the payback began when my neighbor reported us to the city as a fire hazard. I was given 2 weeks to clean it all up for reinspection. I had to retrim my yard and get all chopped and stored away. I had to line my drive way with some unsplit rounds that will be my start for this years wood gathering. I got a love note from the complainant but passed the inspection. I really worked my butt off getting it all split and stored. I am happy with the “windfall” but that was painful,
I don't know how cold it gets where you are, but if power goes out, bet they wouldn't have a problem asking to come over to stay warm.
I could never live somewhere where the neighbor could dictate what I could do on my own property. Especailly if that neighbor is a puscillanimous and won't come talk to me directly about it. "I'm gonna call da gubment!"
All have to say is You Go Boy! I'd frame the neighbors note... ...putz... Oh, and welcome to FHC...you are doing it right by the way...
Madscrambler I have one of those neighbors. I have been feuding and causing him all kinds of aggravation for several years after he did the same thing to me as your neighbor. Pm me if you want some of my favorite things to do to pizz him off.
I think I will get that note framed and post it in my garage gallery! Good suggestion brenndatomu. I guess this makes me an official hoarder after what I went through with the city and neighbor. While this was happening another neighbor stopped while I was out chopping my wood and asked if I was giving away fire wood- he also asked if I was going to sell my car and asked how much I wanted. The complainer must have posted about me on the local neighborhood web site. I felt like punching him; but answered him that I was not giving fire wood away!
Not sure we’ve “met” Madscrambler Welcome to the club! Nice score on the oak! Can’t imagine living with a neighbor like that. Looks like a motorcycle jacket, do you ride?
I would frame that note and hang it on the power pole, so whoever wrote it will see it everytime they drive by....but hanging anything on a power pole might also get you in trouble in your part of the country...good luck!
Looks like a motorcycle jacket, do you ride?[/QUOTE] Yes I have a dual sport BMW R100 GSPD and a Vespa P200e and old Harley.
