Been finding small amounts of scroungable limb wood at the transfer station my last few times there. The small amount in my truck was scrounged this past weekend. It was all in a pile and I grabbed what was easy to get. The first few pics I’m questioning. The rest of the wood was clearly hard maple. These four pics have a bit different bark pattern, but it just might be cracked that way and be maple. They do have sucker branches similar to apple/fruit trees.
Second picture looks like dogwood ThomH123. Superb firewood IMO. buZZsaw BRAD gifted me a few rounds last year.
First five pics are dogwood. Doesnt get big but some GREAT btu's. I wouldve grabbed it in a heartbeat. Nice find Thom!
You guys are right. I should have recognized it. I had some dogwood 8 or so years back. It was great firewood. Very tough stuff.
Fond memories of cutting dead dogwood with my father years back. The wooded lot next to him (family owned) had many standing dead ones growing wild. We would harvest them in the Winter and burn right away. Kicked out some serious heat from the fireplace.
