This elbow 4” dia. was cut off a lively tree in spring. It doesn’t want to die. Curious, never saw this happen before.
Love me some Mullberry. Plant that branch and 5 trees will sprout. That tree is resilient and great wood. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have some Willow logs doing that, and was told it might happen. I'm pretty sure Mulberry is better firewood than Willow. Yep, try planting it.
Ive seen that happen on willow and a round (choke cherry, i think)i scrounged back in April. Its still sitting in the yard. Ive been meaning to plant it and see what happens.
I've never known willow to fail at that. That's because it is like a weed. Weeds grow no matter what.
Mulberry trees and bushes spring up spontaneously here out of control. The last thing I would do is plant another. The roots spread widely so cutting one down only angers the root system and up come dozens more. Birds poop the seeds far & wide too. I finally found a triclopyr based treatment to kill them because they only laugh at Roundup. Great burning wood however.
