Looking to mod my lil 180 and install an adjustable Wt215 carb.

Any tips will be helpful. I can take pics if needed. I've never done a mm.

The goal is not a race saw...just a lil more performance if that makes a difference.

    Thanks!

Never done a 180 but the idea is to enlarge the exhaust to be about 80% of the cylinder exhaust. Also gut out any interior restrictions such as cats or too many chambers.

Post a pic of the muffler.

Well said. You can either add some extra "gills" or add a port on one side (need to buy or make a deflector). But any restrictions inside need to be removed.

I've never personally touched a 180 muffler, but I would guess there is a baffle of some sort in there. The few 025/250's I have worked on have an inner baffle.

Here's where we are at. There was a baffle. Instead of splitting the whole can and removing it I drilled a 3/8 hole into the front of it. Definitely louder now haha. I also put 3 smaller holes under the gills. There were a bunch of tiny holes. ..I made 3 bigger ones out of em.

Why do I need a deflector?

Front ward holes dont necessarily but if your in a cut a long time you will start to burn the bark up. Side hole need forward deflector s cause you dont want the exhaust going back into the saw or into your hands you want it deflected forward.

Installing a adjustable carb. Literally the last step I had.

Well, you can start with some JB Weld, and then if it comes to it...

Seems worth a shot, but I haven't tried it on one of those plastic chassis. Assuming it adheres, the difficulty here might be that it makes that little loop too rigid, so that the switch shaft won't snap into place.

Hang on.... Did you do the mod while muffler was on the saw? If you did, remove it before running and get all that metal out! Compressed air ought to do it.

Muff was removed to perform surgery. All metal has been removed.
Only issue is the stupid broken plastic that holds the choke lever and linkage.

Looks like jb weld will be the next step....I'm still drinking so all tools are stationary for the night lmao.

If you do JB it make sure it is good and clean first. Not sure if I'd use acetone...but some alcohol (non drinking kind) would be good.
