Dave… Please feel a "need" to post pics of your Alaskan mountain paradise, often. This Mainer is loving it… Is the full grown one McKinley?

200 miles… quite a sight. What's the high peak on your local mountains? I'll bet when they melt all of that snow, it's a sight to see in the valleys.

I think Pioneer Peak is the tallest in the Chugach mts close to me.

Snow & glacier melt keep our rivers full thru summer.
    Cold water, no swimming :)

Years ago I did some skiing but not in these .
Do some cross country skiing, but not in the mountains.
Pretty steep, lots of avalanches in the ones in the pictures.

Have done some "high marking" with snow machine years ago,
Scared the chit out of myself in a small avalanche . God looks out for fools once. Genetic cleansing after that.

Are the higher peaks snow capped throughout the year Dave?

    Yes
Last year was one of the only years I remember that the snow was all gone off the top of the closest peaks in the pictures.
Typically, there's some snow up there year round.

The peaks farther back in the range, snow covered year round.
When you fly into Anchorage in August, you fly over miles of glacier & snow covered mountains when you start the decent to land. Lots of mts here. :)

A little off topic but I heard this year that Mt Shasta in N CA, the snow was all gone. 1st time ever in memory of locals
Dry lakes & reservoirs all over central & Northern CA. Severe drought.
    Climate change
