The old engine had a leak in the gas tank if you you put in over half a tank of gas so we had a Honda GX160 put on it. I did use it on some smaller stuff once we brought it back home, we'll see what it does with some bigger rounds later. It does seem quieter than the old Briggs but I was expecting that. I did start some stacking and the we received a call it was done, I had just brought it over to the dealer this morning and the engine came in after I had left so they put it on. The first picture is the load of smaller rounds I was going to stack just before we got the call from the dealer that it was done.
I second that, got one on my winch & it always starts & makes plenty of power. Nice fix for the splitter.
I'm really liking it so far but have only split some Ash with it. I'm not sure if I'll have time to get it in some Beech or Sugar Maple but we'll see.
When I put the chonda (predator) on our old Didier that had a 5 hp briggs, it was a huge improvement. Starts better, especially in cold temperature, uses less gas, more power, and it's quieter.
Honda GX160 T1/K1 (163 cc) engine specs and service data | Wersis.net This is the first engine that I've had that has a kill switch, after three pulls today and it didn't start I turned it on and she fired right up.
Lol. Go figure. It also has a low oil cutoff switch. So it'll shut down before it grenades oft low on oil.
Another two hours of splitting and I'll change the oil in it, I do check the oil in it every time before I use it. I have a few more jobs we wanted done before the cold comes in so I'll do those tomorrow and then it's back to cutting and splitting. Today I cleaned out the garage and made more room for the winter, once we decide to take the backhoe off there will be room for that and there also will be room for the new plow for the RTV.
