Here's a ported MS660 And a stock MS661 As you can see, the 661 is a runner.........it look some serious work to beat it with the 660
All jugs and designs are not created equal.. A common problem with the 660 jug, is once a builder fixes it's too high exhaust issue, you're faced with a too low intake floor issue.. Randy fixed that issue with this saw... Now on to it's other challenges... By guess is this 660 will stomp a hole in a stock 395, but get sent packin by a good ported 395... They're just stout...
395 vs. 660/661 is apples to oranges to me. 395 will always be heavier and have more cc's and more power. If I needed max power regardless of the weight, I'd go with the 395. If power:weight ratio was supreme, I'd look into 660/661 vs. 390. That's closer to apples to apples.
Stihl doesn't really have a direct competitor for the 395. It will out oil, out pull all the other 90cc saws out there built this century.
