Finally did it been a long journey looking back at 2008 when I refinanced and set up a spreadsheet to keep track of the principle - man did 2016 look like a loooong way off. Several hiccups along the way - vehicles dying, remodeling kitchens & bathrooms always keeping my plan in place that it would someday happen. Treated myself to a full propane tank this week, haven't burned a drop of the stuff since the 2009-10 winter when I first installed the Clydesdale. Took the dogs for a nice walk through MY woods this morning, it felt even more relaxing than it usually does.
See you in 24 years. Or at least that's where the forecasted payoff is right now. Hopefully it's much sooner. Congrats!!!
Congratulations basod. It is a wonderful thing and gives you much peace of mind. I just thought about it and if my memory is right our last mortgage payment was almost 40 years ago. Sweet!
oh man, what happened to the dancing banana? He/she would have been appropriate as nothing shows party time like a dancing banana.
Congrats, I'm sure that's a great feeling!! I'm probably on the 30 year plan, I have no intentions on paying mine off early until I'm maxing out my 401k, Roth IRA, and have the wife's student loans paid off (which are at a higher interest rate than the mortgage). But I can always dream....
We took out a15 year loan because I hate payments, and our payments compared to the 30 were only about$250 more, for a total of about $775. I just told them to round it up to $800 to make it easy and get a little extra every month. What u couldn't believe was the minor difference in payment, half the time of the loan should be almost twice the payment, just goes to show how much they make on the 30 year loans. We haven't been able to put much else into extra payments yet with all the remodeling but I'm hoping this next year to do an extra payment or 2. I worked my patukis off early this year to pay off our truck loan, credit card debts, a couple medical bills and put a little more into my 401k as well as up my payment for my 401k loan, all that hard work made a huge difference when I got laid off a month before our wedding! Luckily I got called back a week before to help put our minds at ease. It's been a hard year but having the extra couple hundred every month from the other loans being paid off helped a ton, I couldn't even imagine having the mortgage paid off! Congrats basod now it's time for more toys!!!!!!
It's good to have a plan, but sometimes it is just better to get it paid off and done. Not judging your mathematically-correct decisions, just saying that for peace of mind, it is great to actually own the house you live in.
Way to go! For some reason my wife is painting a white line down the middle of our house as I write this, I wonder why!
Congratulations basod no when you get documents we Need of course that may be a copy as you might need the actual paperwork some time!
