I was already very late for work this morning (its okay as im self employed) when i passed this sign. Not wanting to cause an accident i drove around the block to investigate. All Eastern White pine. I then went to work...disappointed.
Maybe BeechNut or dotman17 could put it to good use?! IMG_0683.JPG
Not the best sign but my keen eye for them caught it! IMG_0679.JPG
most were cut to length. IMG_0678.JPG
A few even split. Maybe they found out it was pine and changed their mind? IMG_0680.JPG IMG_0681.JPG IMG_0682.JPG
quite a bit. Maybe two cord by my guesstimate. I let it lay where it is.

I may have just found some time to get a load. Doesn't seem like you get much pine around here. But then, I have plenty of wood that needs processed. Oh well, to far for me anyway.
You sure have a nose for finding the wood out your way.

I had to laugh at the title. Yes. I'm 12.

I would've done the same, maybe. Well. Ok. Ifu had the trailer already hooked up, might as well take a load home.;)

its okay Horkn my 12 year old mind made up the title!
My truck was almost empty and my PA is full now plus have 20 cord at the honey hole to cut yet! Burned pine once years back and know of no one around here that does. Pine boards i use for kindling.
Did you get all that ash processed?

It's all good. No. I haven't processed any wood in any sort since I piled those 2 ash in my yard around memorial day weekend. I typically try not to do any firewood work when it's hot. I'll jump back on that in fall. All I've done recently for firewood work is burn it in camp fires.

I wouldn’t turn down pine, but I get that you have enough higher btu stuff. I figure the faster cure time actually means it takes up less cord * years. Ie oak is going to be taking up space for at least three years, and it doesn’t have triple the btu. Not great for all nighters, but that is why you get a mix going.
It splits real nice when straight like that.. just eat some sardines in oil with your hands to get the pitch off.. I mean miracle whip. ;)

Even if I wanted pine I would turn that down. Talk about a terrible job of trimming limbs! I hate it when people cut limbs off like that. Try to stack that stuff and then try to pack it into the stove. Nasty.

Smart move. You have a ton of premium wood, so why waste the time right. I would think an hour spent working oak pays more than the hour on the pine. Time is money !!!!

Not a whole lot. Shows the unpopularity of burning pine around here.

Is that a stack of rounds in the background in the left edge of the photo? Some of that pine would be easy splitting. I say get some easy splits and give them a shot... you might like them. Getting up to temp and burning down coals. (Peer pressure)

If you have the space, why not? Btu’s are btu’s. I get a little picky myself but when it comes down to having some wood that you don’t need to heat yourself out of your home, this would be it. Fuel is fuel. Fire is fire. It’s not top rate but given the benefit of the doubt, at least if you split it and get it dry you can tell anyone your own testimony having burned pine without a problem in your pipe...then let them make up their own mind. You’ll be the one that knows first rate.

I agree with you 110% but have always burned hardwood. Plenty around for me if you followed my threads. If i had no wood to hoard and needed my fix id consider it. I have over triple the amount of wood i usually have and have to keep reinventing my PA

That’s a nice load of pine. Up here in the hills I think I’m the only one that will scrounge roadside pine and hemlock. Makes me just as excited as the hardwood scores. Pine burns quickly but it burns hot. I css it for the maple arch. Our arch doesn’t seem to be too picky. It’s old but it’ll eat anything and keep sap on a nice boil. Last year I hauled back maybe a couple cord of pine from the roadside tree crews.

I too will pass on the pine. I have a piece here and there, but it burns too fast for me. I use the limbs for starting sometimes, but with limited time, I would spend the time cutting the hardwood. It takes about 2 seconds more for the same size piece of hickory as it does the pine for me. Granted, I am lucky to have this in my yard which makes a big difference. at my old house, box elder, thorn apple, basswood etc....it all went in the stove!!!
