The pile of split wood has grown while the pile of unsplit wood has shrunk. The stack on the left is pine, on the right, poplar.
I need to attack those two huge oaks this winter, get them split and stack and drying out. One has been down a couple of years; the other just this summer. Lots of wood in them. Help would make it quicker but I get it done slow but sure.
The pine is and I think the poplar will be. I split open a large poplar round the other day and it was 26+ %. However, another round was higher. If we get some windy days. I wish I had a high sun area to stack it in to help. I meant to call a firewood supplier and see if he had three year split wood or not.
The way I stack my poplar, birch( when I ever get a little birch) and cottonwood. Is bark down , split side up. Always ! The bark is waterproof , wood is porous You've got a great system there. I like how you keep the whole stack centered on the pallets all the way up ! Looks great !!
