My woods are very over grown and seven out of ten trees get hung up when felled. So it's time for the winch.
    IMG_0640.JPG
    All hooked up
    IMG_0641.JPG
Ready to get it on the ground.

    Down safe and sound.

All bucked up. Notice the tree top on the right. It came down in one piece.

Back at the stacks ready to split.

Great pictures and thanks for sharing! That red oak looked like it's been dead for a while, but still didn't have much rot to it that I saw. Sometimes I have some red oaks that the sap wood starts to get punky real quick, but that one looks good.

Nice looking stacks you have there. :)

Good job. While I enjoy the snow, it is nice to not have it and still have cold temps for such activities.

Great post gboutdoors , now that's my idea of a relaxing day in the woods! You have all the nice toys to make job easier. My winch is rope tied to my trailer hitch, and the truck pulls em down, most of the time.  Plan " B " then becomes some head scratching.

Most of the dead standing are like that here. This one could have been trouble had I cut 2' higher.
    IMG_0650.JPG
This is what it looked like just these two bucks though.
    IMG_0651.JPG
Saw this one on the way back to the stacks and dropped it for the next load.

    On the ground.

I know show it after you split it.
    IMG_0662.JPG
I know turn the meter try it this way or that way. Fact is its dry and ready to burn.

Last of three trailer loads for the day. If you look back at the first load picture you can see that this load will make it just about a cord . All CSS this morning boy did that feel GREAT.

Red oak rocks. I started this morning on my cache of rounds. Sure splits nice with the X27 on a cold morning. GO PATS!!!!! An ugly win sure beats a pretty loss!!

Great setup you have. Nice to clean up the woods. How long did it take to CSS that cord?

I have wanted to replace it for years but can't. My dad made it out of an old car axle and springs. We made the bed out of a bunch of scrap pt decking. That was maybe 30 years ago. Have looked at many of the nice rigs you guys have here but I just love the memories .
