Got a few more axes and hatchets today. There's a Flying Fox, Hudson Bay hatchet and Camp Hatchet. I also got both, 24" and 28" Boys Axes. These round out my lineup and fill some gaps.
That one in the middle looks very much like the Stihl branded one I have and use daily for kindling. Not sure who makes them for the creamsickle company ,
I just looked at them, and it does resemble the Hudson Bay pattern. The price point is pretty close too. I think a German axe company makes their larger axes, but I'm not sure about their smaller ones. Edit: Kindling is why I bought the hatchets. Wasn't sure which would work best, so I get to be my own guinea pig.
I stumbeled accross 2 of them @ $28 each , I bought them both. Now one in the shop and one in the house so both fires are covered. I do have a mid size splitting axe and also a maul from them , I can't recall whos name is actually on the head. Those I have had for years.
Thats why I grabbed them , and being a Stihl groupie sealed the deal. I do actually like them. At first it seemed kind of light but after a few uses I have taken a liking to them. The larger mauls are made by Oshenkoph ( I know I spelled that one wrong ) but the hatchets have no name and just 600 cast into them so I have no clue who makes the smaller ones.
Thanks! Only hatchet and mid length handle axe, with a 2 lb or so head, I had, was 2 Fiskars and I wanted to get wood handle replacements.
