Saw this in our local liberal rag. It is a look at moose/vehicle collisions in Maine for the past year. Interactive map: see where Maine drivers crashed into moose in the past year
On 95 from Bangor North they are taking them out. I see north of Houlton, they are hunting with cars, if you did not get drawn for a tag.
Best to use a heavy truck. Make sure you have comprehensive coverage. I've seen where moose have sheared off the top half of a car. The occupants often don't survive to collect their bounty.
I am thinking a 78 Ltd wagon in the $300-450 range. It’s tall square front end, plenty of hood to catch the query. Just a thought.
Had a cow try her luck one icy evening, we call them moose bumpers here. Cracked the headlight housing mount , did not break the filament. The thump was hard enough to change the radio station. A $3,000 bumper will save your bacon. Broke her back somewhere forward of the hips, 10mm to put her down. Here there game go to charities like soup kitchens, food banks first then down the list kept by the troopers.
If you go to the arrticle you can hover over the dots and read the details of the police report. Kinda cool! Thanks for sharing!
