Anybody recommend a moisture meter that won’t break the bank but is still reliable? Looked at reviews for the cheaper ones such as found at HF, not impressed. I burn 3-4 year old wood but just curious how fast different types dry. Thanks. Oh yeah, please include where the meters can be purchased.

If you've got a smart phone with a headphone jack, I recommend this one. $20-25.

Lowe’s sells one and usually has them in stock. Finding them can be another matter :) Product locator told me aisle 100. I haven’t seen a Lowe’s that big yet. Works good tho.
Around here you have to order the ones from Home Depot.

Bought this one at Home Depot yesterday. Had a $30 gift card collecting dust and had given my old one to a friend.

Oh! They forgot the decimel point. $34.97 I was going to get a $23 one off Amazon, but this gift card had been hanging around too long. Its always easier to spend someone elses money!

That's how the credit card companies get you too. Don't worry, your future self will foot the bill! You won't have to spend a dime!

I see ryobi makes a Bluetooth version of the moisture meter I have. It's also 45 bucks vs the 20-25 of the old headphone jack one. TBH, I use the DR meter one more as it's super handy, and no phone needed.

I have the general tools one as well. Does the job. However I can attest that the pins are no match for very dry black locust.

YUP! Just point at a log and get an instant result. State of the art technology!

More like state of the art BS. It was $34.97. They forgot the decimel point.

... I got the cheap one from HF. It was only 13 bucks. It is the Pittsburgh brand. ...it seems to do fine. There is also a "hard" setting for cement and drywall.

So what are people paying for with the more expensive ones... more precise? More features?
