    Hello

There was a plastic cartridge in the shower that lasted only 2 years
When I went toHome depot, I only saw 1 plastic and one brass, the brass Moen # 1200 was for about $22 was thin and would not fit so I got the wider plastic for a whopping $39 and popped it in.
Nice change out video on YouTube

Now I see this on the web and it says it replaces the plastic? Would this work and last longer
    Danco Cartridge 80993TS

why didn't you just call Moen they send you free replacement parts? unless you did not want to wait for post office to deliver..

If I understand your post correctly you said the brass Moen #1200 would not fit, right??? The add for the Danco cartridge says it is a replacement for the Moen #1200 that you already stated would not fit. Or am I missing something here?

You can replace the black pads and o rings and keep the stem unless it is all pooched. If it is not a genuine Moen, the quality and fit may not be the same. They will work, but not the same as genuine. Make sure the balancer spool inside still jiggles.

There is a puller tool available, since those stems can be hard to remove.

That replacement does not look like it would work. You need the ears to fit in the valve body by the retainer clip so it does not spin.

The plastic one is fine, it will last many years. I'm just curious why the brass replacement one is a smaller diameter.

The brass cartridge is for the older Moen faucets where the face plate screws are both on the bottom and not kiddy corner from each other. I would still call Moen and have then send you a free cartridge for a back up. If the cartridge didn't last as long there must be some hard water in the area. Hard water and plastic do not go well together.
