So I got this Poulan countervibe for free and I believe it was 56 cc. The piston and cylinder were scored so I decided to put a 60 cc piston and cylinder on it. While I was at it I opened the ports alittle and modified the muffler. I finished up most of it today. It does pretty well and I believe will keep up with my other 60 cc saws. I put in new rings so it will take some run time to get those to seat. I was removing old piston here I got the 60cc cylinder and piston on here with the modified muffler. the saw is together and did some test cutting. Saw is tuned to 13,100 rpm's at this time.
On these older Poulans the wrist pin is pressed into the rod and the piston has two bearings one on each side. No circlips.
Yep I am with you Tamarack I have quite a few Poulans ranging from different sizes and years that they were made. They are easy to work on too.
Did some testing with the saw today. With the bar and chain on at wide open throttle it is 4 stroking and set at 13,000 rpm's. I have a piece of 12" lodge pole pine and put the saw into that and the saw goes into 2 stroke. When it first hits the wood the tach read 12.500 rpms's by the time it hits the center the tach read 10,500 rpm's. This was done with a 20" bar and regular round ground chisel. Nothing special but I am happy with the results so far. Saw starts real easy and always within two pulls.
