I know there was lots of talk on wanting stihls to oil better. You can buy Ho parts for some of the saws but the 440 and a few others don't have the parts available. I didn't mod this one yet but it's a 1122 oiler for the 064/66/660 series. The same thing applies to the 440/460 oilers but the end is shaped a little different. I did some paint shop work on the pictures to help you guys out. The control bolt there on the right is where the slanted end of the piston rides. You can make the circle a little smaller and it will give it more stroke. Taking that shoulder down does the same thing. There's .25mm difference in the HO oiler to regular on the 660. You can open the notch in the end where the oil actually travels a little bit in length to let more in there before it rolls around and forces it out to the bar.

That's awesome! A little grinding/machining work sure beats $40+ to buy a new pump piston & control bolt.

Great idea to post this !!
Just so there is no confusion, we grind down the shoulder to the teeth evenly on the piston, not diagonally - correct ?

Just shape it like it is on a slope now. If it doesn't have a slope it's not going to have the stroke to pump more oil.

OK, so slope the shoulder by the teeth like the line shows, taking none away from the high side and going down to the teeth on the low side ..............for max stroke

My iphone doesn't do your pictures any justice, easy to see the slope on a full screen computer.

Thanks for this thread, as I will be one who greatly benefits from it ................ and my 32" B&C on my 044 thanks you too !!!!!

Yeah you got it. It is kind of hard to see on a phone screen. It will help the 44 oiler.

One of my biggest gripes when cutting is under oiling....

It doesn't take much to get more flow. The stroke only neeeds to change .2mm or so to get up to the HO oiler. You can accomplish it with grinding any of the pieces or a combination. If you do all of them you can empty the tank before the fuel.

Nice thread mdavlee. Are all three mods needed to pump more oil or is it more of a pick you're poison type deal?

Basically pick one. You're looking to increase the stroke a little bit. Any of the mods will do it. The control bolt may be easier to do being it's less material to take off.

There was a thread on AS showing how to mod them. I can't remember what you did for sure.
