Does anyone have any experience with the Minibrute 12 volt chain saw? they were marketed along with a gas powered log splitter, turns out they use a common motor used in winches, they have circuitry designed to shut down leaving you with enough zap to start your engine. I wouldn't mind picking one up if parts are commonly available, I've only seen a few on expired ebay listings.

with todays battery technology I think I would just buy a Dewalt or whatever your brand of choice is, It would be neat to have one though.

Neighbors grandkids were using a Dewalt about a month ago, It was kind of impressive- in view of what was available about some 10 odd years ago which was the last time I was around an battery powered saw. They were whacking away on a bunch of 6" and smaller windblown limbs all afternoon off and on. The old trim and drag to brush pile routine.
