Im sure iv mentioned my very aggresive plan for firewood this winter. I have not even burned a half cord of my seasoned wood this winter. I go out everyday or sometimes every 3 and get loads of dead standing good wood or older storm wood, (pine or hardwood ) as long as its dry i dont care what it is. But i am picky im not gonna burn punky wood. Last weekend i did a chimney/stove cleaning and the results were outstanding. I would guess 75 percent of my burning is pine, the other 25 is mostly maple and some oak and hickory with a nice 30 ft cherry tree thrown in there that was dead with no bark. I cooked a few steaks over that on the indoor grill
So when i brush the chimney chimney i do it from inside with the shop vac inserted to keep the dust down. Im proud to say it was spotless, little bit of dust and thats it. So i guess being picky with the wood payed off and im thinking the pine burns so hot that it helped too. Its been alot of fun and my dog loves coming with me. So im gonna keep going and see if i can do it for the rest of the season. Oh ya my wife says why do you have to do this if you say we have 3 years plus worth of good wood? In the same breath she says forget It, laughs and says im such a dork. So i reply and most of you have heard me say this “ keepin that sweet a$$ warm one log at a time. Stay warm friends! Well actually i will never have to worry about any of you keeping warm :D

For sure good burning practices make a world of difference in the chimney! You are doing it right.

40-ish Sunday-Monday, so I might do the same. There's still a bunch of snow up there though.

Still snow on the north side of roof where i would need to go up so I just run the brush from the inside and go up for inspections of roof, skylights and chimney in spring.
