Really gnarly Boxelder and giant mosquitoes! We grow them both big here!

Enter stage left: The Galley Nipper Mosquito. One of the largest varieties in the world. Apparently there was a recent hatch of the state bird here!

Enter stage right: A really big gnarly half rotten Boxelder. The tape says it was about 40" DBH. Let's get ready to rumble!

But first we're going to need to put a rope in this one just to be extra sure I don't take out half my parents house.

I made a conventional face cut and then plunge cut it to set the hinge and left a nice trigger section on the back. Couple of holding wedges to make sure it didn't set back on my bar and it was ready to lay down for a little slumber.

And that's all she wrote folks. It was about 88ish degrees and 90+% humidity at the time of this last picture. Hence the shirt sweatage and cranky mug. For reference that's a 28" B&C on the Dolmar.

Thanks brothers! Yup it was hot, but it was a surprise father's day present for my dad. Worth it to see the happy look on his face when he got home.

My BIL was there to play groundie so that made it a little easier. We didn't get much done after the fell. Only about 2/3rds of it limbed.

I started bucking the base and ran into something harder than the chain:headbang: so that was it for the Dolmar for the day. Forgot to grab a spare chain when I left the house.

Holy crap! I watched the video on a small screen, for a split second I thought that bird house on a pole in the foreground was a real house in the background:faint:

Yup its a 7910 and I love it. Reminds me of the older big Stihls I used to run. Lots of torque.
