I was sitting on the couch the other night and started to hear scratching noise coming from my fireplace. All of the sudden a little mouse popped out and ran around the firebox then back into the masonry. They tunneled inside the masonry and exited through a missing chunk of mortar on the side of the firebox. No idea how they're getting in there though. I'll have to check out the backside of the fireplace which is in the garage. I got 2 of them over night with the snap traps. Looks like I need to make a trip to the store for something to patch up the exit point. I hate mice.
In Alaska I had a problem w/shrews. Just a tab bit smaller than a mouse. They could get through a hole the size of a pencil.
