MH Wells hammer identification

    I'm wondering if I could get a little info on this hammer. It was my great uncles, and was just curious. Im guessing a sheet metal hammer of some kind. It cannot strike square unless your hand is clear of the surface your are hamering on. A guy brought it by, he was getting ready to take a bunch of his tools to the thrift store. I did googlize it, but just came up with their claw hammers.

    There does not seem to be much out there on that one. It looks to be a planishing hammer of some type.

    Sometimes the manufacturers stamp can provide a date range of when it was made. Names added, dropped or logo style changed are indicators.

    Thanks for looking. I'm checking the link out now. Was curious, as my uncle was a miner his whole life. I'm trying to get the stove he made in the 50,s too. Neat little hammer, I'm going to hang it on the wall.
