Anyone have some unfortunate pics of damaged chains while cutting? Here's mine from yesterday. Chain only had a dozen rounds on it. [IMG]

    Yea, been there. :(

Nice thing is a file will get you going in a few minutes :)
May need to take the rakers down some after sharpening that much.

I cut 2/3 thru then roll the log over & finish the cut but still nick the ground now & then.
Only takes a 1/2 a second & the chain is dull.

I just did one that took 6 file passes per cutter,

Ouch! I cut through a lag bolt buried in a log once, my chain looked almost as bad. Crazy thing was I didn't even notice until I was later splitting the wood.

One of the reasons I under cut when wood is on the ground. The bar is swinging upwards away from the ground. A lot less risk of hitting the ground.

Check the other thread of the X-ray of a "chain in the neck"! (no pun intended!)

It doesn't swing quite that high.

Not sure what I hit. Was noodling a good size pine Y looking at big chips when all the sudden I heard a horrific sound resulting in a chain that would start a friction fire quicker than pullin saw dust. I will go back and bust that pine Y open for further inspection if someone else hasn't scrounged it up yet.

I hit alot of nails when I cut the skids at that factory. I end up taking two saws so I can keep cutting without fooling around sharpening there. I file them at lunch during work the next day. I go through alot of files too. :(
