OK...so I picked up a 7-10 recently (complete for $15!), and am going through it, cleaning, etc. Piston looks great..and just needs a couple things like fuel line and starter pull cord...he tried to start and it did burp, then the rope broke! Been doing some research and can get most parts (if you look long enough), but have a couple questions. First: I need the fuel tank gasket, and what I find looks similar but is marked for the 10-10...are they the same? Second: the pin sprocket seems to have a lot of play...my other saws have the drum so I'm not real familiar with pin...I assume there is a bearing that goes with it and thought it was the problem...just don't want to take it apart if I don't have to. Last: I'm considering changing to electronic ignition so as to not mess with points/condenser, and videos I've seen are not real clear, as they usually show a Stihl or other mfg..any thoughts, and have you done it on this model? I bought the module and it has directions for positive ground and negative ground...not sure which one this is. Can post a pic if needed. Thanks in advance!

Don't know about the fuel tank gasket. Rim sprockets normally have play - more than you'd be used to with a spur sprocket (essentially none with the spur sprocket) - likely fine. I've torn down an old Stihl 031 which had the conversion with module from points/condenser - seemed straightforward as I recall, but was years ago - I'm sure others will chime in - good luck getting her running again! Cheers!

10-10 gasket should be the same, or you could always make your own as a last resort. Do you mean the clutch drum itself has a lot of play? If so then yes you probly need a new bearing at least. Not sure on the ignition question, try the module and see what happens, can always switch the wires if its wired backward

Yea...I might just make the gasket, have some cork/rubber sheet around somewhere...the clutch drum is OK but the drive wheel is what I was talking about. Also it turns out I need the brake band...the handle assy is fine but the band is broken, and looks like it might rub if not replaced..if anyone can steer me to the best place for NOS/used parts. Thanks!
